hahaha wait, you went to the december 19th show at the fillmore? i'm surprised i didn't see you considering what you were wearing!

303hatman's picture

Yeah. That's wierd! I was roughly second row just off center towards stage right, where were you?

Ballerado Chick's picture

well i was originally in the second row, near the middle, slightly to the left for the pirate signal and part of photo atlas, but then people started pushing and my friends freaked out and wanted to go up to the vip box... god damn it! that pissed my off soo much!
but there was a girl in a big, wool sweater in front of us... she had pencil sharpeners sewn onto the shoulders! so you weren't the only one wearing something warm hahaha

303hatman's picture

Ah, nice; we must of just missed each other with you on the left and me right. That is the worse, the friends I always go with know that they are welcome to go wherever but I am staying as close to the front as possible short of needing an emergency room. But I bet VIP was sweet! Haha, sounds interesting; I wonder what her intentions were with the pencil sharpeners. Have you been to any other shows?

303hatman's picture

Damn, my photo didn't upload right. Dang site I was trying to take it from.

Ballerado Chick's picture

haha ya i wish my friends were cool like that...
sadly, no, that was my first concert, but definitely not my last!! how many have you been to?

303hatman's picture

Dang it, but I know what you mean just about everyone of my friends have seen 3OH!3 multiple times with me just bugging them to go. Well that is one sick first concert! Mine was The Fray so I have just been local from the start but not as cool as yours. Honestly I have no idea, I know I haven't missed a Co show since Warped Tour 07' so if I were to guess I would say 20ish. You planning on going 4/22 or 5/21?

Ballerado Chick's picture

i totally agree!! it was a bitchen concert! (not that i have anything to compare it to though)
you are so lucky that you've been to all of those shows!!! do you live on the front range? cuz that would make it a hell of a lot easier to go to shows in denver and boulder!
i can't go to the 4/22 one because i'm going on a soccer trip to calli for spring break... i would rather go to the concert though! and i'm really trying to make it work for the 5/21 concert!
p.s. the fray is pretty awesome! and i'm with you! colorado has a pretty kick ass music scene! do you like the flobots or the pirate signal?

303hatman's picture

Haha, trust me it was a great one since it was the first time they preformed Still Around EVER! Thanks, yeah; I am originally from Greeley but now reside in the CU dorms. Your profile says you are from the 970, so I would guess Greeley but not now? Oh, good luck in Cali! Coincidentally I am also going to Cali for my Spring Break but to try and make a difference on Catalina Island, I just made sure there was not going to be any 3OH!3 shows in Co when my break is before signing up. I hope you make it, if you do I'll be impossible to miss; wait and see.

Yeah, it is intense how the scene is BLOWING UP; do you play any instruments? I really like The Flobots and I hope to be at their Cd Release show 3/12, I have seen them three times and they put on a great show. I like The Pirate Signal, they are ok and I have seen them three times also; but I like the local bands The Chain Gang of 1974, Cobraconda, and Single File more then the Signal and a few others about the same. Do you listen to any of them?

Ballerado Chick's picture

I know! That was so amazing that they performed Still Around!!!
I'm actually from Steamboat Springs, so it takes like 3 hours to get to Denver, over the mountains. That's one of the reasons going to shows is difficult, because I rarely go to Denver...
That's awesome that you're at CU! That's one of the colleges I'm considering!
Are you doing volunteer work in Cali?
I used to play clarinet... but I don't think that counts! hahaha And i really want to go to the Flobot's CD release! I bet they are great live! Jonny 5 is sick!!
And ya, I really like The Chain Gang of 1974, but I have tried to find some Cobracanda music to download, but I didn't find anything! And I'll check out Single Fire, since you obviously have great taste in music!

Ballerado Chick's picture

Oh and what time did you get in line at the Fillmore on December 12? Because I think that I'm going to the 5/21 concert!!! And I want that package that they're offering, so that means GA tickets and I want to be as close to the stage as possible!!!

303hatman's picture

Ah, Steamboat is so cool for Skiing; I normally take a weekish trip up there every year just to hit the slopes. CU is pretty great, and close to almost all shows. So I am guessing you are a Junior if you are looking at colleges? Yeah, I am going on an "alternative break" where we are going to Catalina Island right off the coast of Catalina and doing whatever they need done out there like reef clean up, trail building, anything really. It so counts! He is dope, so nice; if you make it out to the show we may run into each other. Cobraconda sadly doesn't have any merch or music avaliable anywhere, I bug Spencer about it each time I see him; so I just listen to "High Maintenance" on their myspace and rock out at the shows. Thanks, right back at you! It is "Single File" though not fire -I just don't want you looking for the wrong group wasting time.

If memory serves I got in line around 1 and was right near the front, I think the line will form earlier for the 5/21 show though since it is in the summer and the opening acts are bigger. But don't quote me on that.

Ballerado Chick's picture

haha I love Steamboat but we have no good concerts :( but I go skiing every weekend! I'm actually a sophomore, I'm not looking at a lot of schools yet, but every once in a while I think about it. Good for you! That sounds like a fun trip!
That is so awesome that you know Spencer!!! Have you ever met Sean or Nat?
Oh and damn it! That really sucks!! i am going to the 5/21 concert! But i have to go to school until 2 that day so I'll probably get to Denver by 5:30... shit...

303hatman's picture

That is a bummer. Lucky! It is great to hear you ski over snowboard, skiing is so much better. Ah, cool. Thanks, I hope so. Yeah, we are on a first name basis; they are both amazing guys. That stinks, is that like your last day of school? You and your group could always just meet up with me and my friends in line, just as friends of course -I am only being so specific because I REALLY (I can't emphasis this enough) like not being in jail haha; last time one of my friends' friend just joined us near the front so it is whatever; assuming you don't have a HUGE group going with you. Just throwing it out there.

Ballerado Chick's picture

YES!!! I JUST BOUGHT MY TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!
Ya! I love skiing so much! You are so lucky that you know them!!! They seem like really cool, chill guys!
No that isn't my last day, sadly. I have 2 weeks after that. It's just my friend and I! Are you kidding me!?!?!?! That would be sooooo amazing if you would let us do that!!! But I would feel bad...

303hatman's picture

Nice! I got mine today too, the normal ticket pre-sale sold out so quick it was nuts even from what I expected. Did you get the package or just normal tickets? Wow, you go so long in the year. Yeah, for real, shows are always better with real 3OH!3 fans near the front and not a bunch of poser and as I mentioned my friends' friend just joined us at the front last time at The Filmore so if there are only two of you I don't think it would be a problem at all, but whatever floats your boat is cool.

Ballerado Chick's picture

I bought the package! What tickets did you get? And ya, it really sucks that we get out so late!
Wow! That would be soooo cool of you! I'll see if we can skip a couple classes or the whole day, but we will probably take you up on that offer anyway! Oh and we are definitely not posers haha! So don't worry! I was jumping and belting out the lyrics on December 19, I was the only one in my box rocking out, but I didn't care!!! And I totally started one of the chants when we were waiting for 3OH!3 to come on!

303hatman's picture

I got a package for me and then got a normal ticket for my friend because he didn't want to spring for the package since he isn't a die hard fan. That would be chill if you got the day off, but meeting up is perfectly fine too -just let me know what is up when you know please. I know, I wasn't saying you are, you are on this site and obviously know what's up plus have been to a show. Great to hear, that is sick! I pretty much go nuts during shows. What do you think of the warm ups for Too Fast For Love?

Ballerado Chick's picture

haha ya I know you weren't calling me a poser, I was just saying that for the hell of it :)
Are you going to make the warm ups your self? Because that would be awesome!!

303hatman's picture

Haha, thanks a lot. That is the plan but we'll see what happens, first I am working on my third hat. What to you think of the other bands on the tour?

P.s. Thanks a ton for the help with deleting pictures! I swear you are the only nice person on this site, thanks again.

Ballerado Chick's picture

Well thank you! You seem to be the only nice person on here, and one of the few who actually uploads pictures and does discussions!
I like Cobra Starship (but of course they're not even close to 3OH!3), and Travie McCoy was good in Gym Class Heroes, but I have no idea what he sounds like alone... and I can't decide if I like I Fight Dragons... What do you think of the other bands?
Oh and I checked out Single File! I really like "Girlfriends"!

303hatman's picture

Pretty much, my guess is the other couple thousand people are just creeping around checking out our convo because we actually have stuff to say. For sure, it'll be cool to see all of them and see how they do imo; Starship is suppose to be good live, I sorta like their music, http://www.myspace.com/traviemccoy that is a link for the only song Travis has out now as far as I can tell if you want to check it out and I think it has potential so it could be really good and then I Fight Dragons is so unusual that I'm just really interested to see how they are since their music is ok.
NICE! I'm glad you like it, that is one of their best songs. You must be pretty good at soccer if you are going to Cali for it and consequently missing the 4/22 show?

Ballerado Chick's picture

Wow... that's kinda creepy to think about! hahaha
Thanks for the link! I think I like that song by Travie, it has a good message! And I Fight Dragons is really different, in a good way though, I guess we'll see!
Well our high school team won the Western Slope league last year, but then we got killed in the semi-finals for state... We're ok, but we're going to Cali for a couple of scrimmages and some beach time! It should be fun! But I'm sad that I'm missing the 4/22 show!
It says on your profile that you like pole vault, are you on the CU team? That's really cool!

303hatman's picture

Haha, if it is true they will of truly earned the the name creeper. Same, I think he could be great live. For sure, I think it will be really cool to see how they use their Nintendo stuff in their set because they have quite a few things called "chiptunes" in their songs.
Semi-finals is pretty good! Ah, sounds like a BLAST! It says you play goalie on your profile, so you are in front of the net the whole game?
Yeah, I made the CU track team for pole vault; that and 3OH!3 are prettty much what I am obsessed with so I am pretty descent. Thanks! So is your school pretty big since you are going to Cali? Like my hs was tiny and we would of never thought of something like that so I'm just curious.

Ballerado Chick's picture

Actually, I was wrong, we made it to quarter finals for state hahah. Ya I play goalkeeper, I'm trying to get the spot of starting varsity keeper this year, so it'll be interesting to see how that works out...
Congrats on making the team!! That's so awesome!! I bet pole vault is really fun and challenging!
I think there are about 600 kids at my school, I might be wrong though, so it's medium size I would say. My coach is pretty into soccer and he thinks that with this trip we can stay in shape over break so that we're ready for the state competitions. As apposed to last year where we got back from break and then had quarter finals right away. We're pretty lucky to have opportunities like that though!
How many people were at your high school?

303hatman's picture

Oh, that is good too! Cool, best of luck on that. You can do it! I use to play goalie a long time ago when I use to play soccer, it's tough. Thanks, yeah it is pretty intense but flying some +16ft in the air has such an adrenaline rush I just keep going back.
Oh, that makes sense; I never thought of break interferring with state. I graduated with just under a hundred people and there were roughly 400 total in the hs so it was pretty small but not tiny. So living in Steamboat do you get days off to hit the slopes when you have a really great powder day, or is that just an urban legend?

Ballerado Chick's picture

Thank you! haha that's cool! I love playing keeper so much!! It gives me a big adrenalin rush too, but I bet it's not even close to the rush you get from pole vaulting! When does your season start?
My class has like 140 people, so not a whole lot bigger, but I think they're both good sizes.
Un no, sadly, we never get snow days. The only time that school is canceled is if it's 40 degrees below 0 because the buses can't start and the last time that happened was like 25 years ago. But if it's a really good powder day, we'll just skip school and go skiing! Did you get snow days in high school? Have you had any in college?

303hatman's picture

It is pretty much year round for d-1. We started the second week of school and then if I compete all the way through the season, which idk yet because Regionals is the last meet we are guarenteed to have and if we win we go on. But we only have three enteries per-event for Regionals so we send our three best which idk if I will be one of them, being a Freshman it is really hard to be top three on the team; anyways, Regionals are in the first couple of week in April, I forget exactly when because I don't want to get distracted just focusing on it, if it happens it happens. Ah, yeah it was a pretty nice size but having a lot bigger school is cool too; it really depends a lot. Wow, so even if you get a snow day there is no way you would be skiing. That works! I got one snow day in hs I think, I also got one power outage day so so it is very rare. We had one half day snow day here already this year but supposedly that is really rare. Did you see Johnny Spillane win a silver medal in Nordic Combined at the Olympics, he is from Steamboat the tv said?!
P.s. Happy v-day.

Ballerado Chick's picture

Ya, that's understandable that it would be tough. Good luck though! It sounds like you work really hard and are very driven. It says that you like engineering on your profile, do you want get a job as an engineer after you graduate?
Ya, we've had multiple power outages, but all of the schools have good generators, so we still have to go to school on those days... even when a pipe broke a couple weeks ago and flooded like half of the school, we still had to go! hahaha oh well...
YES!!! Both Johnny Spillane and Todd Lodwick are from Steamboat!!!!! The whole town is celebrating!! That is why we're called Ski Town, USA, after all!! We've produced more Winter Olympians than any other town in the US!! Todd Lodwick's mom was actually my 4th grade teacher hahahaha
And happy V-Day to you to! But I prefer Singles' Depression Day hahaha

303hatman's picture

Thanks, I try to be. I like engineering, it is what I am majoring in, but I want to go to med-school after my undergraduate and eventually be an ENT -I think that would be amazing.
Wow, it sounds like your school never gets out for anything short of impending doom i.e. -40 degrees.
That is so SICK! I bet it is just insane up there tonight, I'm jealous haha.
Haha, for sure; I don't like the holiday at all myself for a multitude of reasons. But it never hurts to be friendly.

Ballerado Chick's picture

That's awesome! I want to go to med-school too! But I have a few more years to think about it.
Yup! I'm so lucky that I was born and raised in The Boat! But like I said before, living on the Front Range definitely has its perks!
And thank you for being friendly! I didn't mean to sound ungrateful, I was just kidding :)

303hatman's picture

SWEET! That's true. Yeah, I guess that comes with just about anywhere; except luckily we are in the best state CO! Oh, haha; no worries and my intention wasn't to sound like a jerk at all or whatever. On a new topic, do you listen to any rockin' up and coming bands that I should know about; I am always looking for new music?

Ballerado Chick's picture

Ya! COLORADO is for sure the best state!!! I mean it did produce the best band ever (3OH!3)!!!
It's cool, you didn't sound like a jerk or anything :)
Um... I really like Chiddy Bang, but you probably know about them because of Nat, his post was how I discovered them! I really don't know of a whole lot of new music that we haven't talked about before or that isn't popular already... I wish I did though! Is there any more new music that you like?

303hatman's picture

WOOT, WOOT!!! Phew. Yeah, Chiddy Bang is pretty tight but not on i-tunes which is saddening; no worries, I'm sure you will be crawling in new bands in no time. A few, idk if you will like them; but if you want to check out: Mike Posner, Air Dubai, American Tomahawk (they are SUPER new), and The Damnwells. That is all I can think of right now and I don't know how restricted your taste in music is?
P.s. I'm sure you know, but Follow Me Down dropped today!!!!

Ballerado Chick's picture

Here is a link to a site where you should be able to download Chiddy Bang's mixtape, but I don't know if it'll work for you because it didn't for some of my friends: http://limelinx.com/files/1fc0cb022a0abe3e47e3c4b1d135a595
Ya, Mike Posner is pretty good! And the other ones are pretty good too, a little slow, but not bad! Thanks! I'm open to most kinds of music (except for screamo!) but I typically like faster paced music. Your taste in music seems to be pretty broad. Do you like county music?

303hatman's picture

Thanks a ton!!! It worked for me.
Haha, yeah screamo makes my ears bleed. Faster pace is almost always impossible to not move to so it is more enjoyable to listen to; but it is harder to play so I do listen to a bit of everything. I just don't typically listen to opera, country, and sreamo so I guess that answers your question on country; no I don't listen to it. The only country artist I enjoy is dead since it is Johnny Cash, he was amazing. How about yourself?

Ballerado Chick's picture

Good!! My friends are kinda stupid when it comes to technology hahaha!
Ya I totally agree! What instruments do you play? I'm a little surprised that you don't like country considering that you're from Greeley, but I guess that's just a stereotype that I have haha
Do you ever go to the Greeley Stampede? I'm considering going this summer! It looks like a lot of fun! I enjoy some country, but it's not really the typical genre that I listen to. I really like a couple songs like Wild At Heart by Gloriana right now.
My favorite genre of music is whatever genre 3OH!3 is, it says alternative, but I think that their music deserves it's own genre! And I like hip-hop, rap, alternative, and some pop.

303hatman's picture

Haha, I'm sure they will be pros in no time with you as a friend.
I play piano, what I started on, drums, my favorite, and guitar, I just started learning so I'm not that good. But since I am in the dorms I have just been messing aroung with electronic beats over the school year until I get my own place next year. Haha, it's cool. I normally go every year, just because it is something to do but I don't enjoy it too much. If you go maybe we will run into each other there! I bet it is a lot of fun if it is your first time going, that was so long ago for me that I forgot what it is like. Cool. I know, it is so hard to classify them and it is also really difficult to find anything that sounds like the,; one of the reason they are so great.
If you haven't heard of Breathe Carolina or Andrew W.K. then you might want to check them out.

Ballerado Chick's picture

hahaha thanks!
That's so cool!! I wish that I was musically talented! Maybe you'll end up having a story like Sean and Nat! Are you in a band?
Ya that would be really cool! I heard that bands like the All American Rejects have played there before, but there aren't any bands like that this year, so I don't know...
Yup! That's exactly what I think!! This is gana sound stupid, but I have 3OH!3 in my iPod under the genre of Amazingness... hahahaha
I have heard of Breathe Carolina, they're pretty good. I'll check out Andrew W.K. thanks!

303hatman's picture

Thanks. A friend and me just made a band, like a month ago, since I had to quit the band I was in in Greeley with the whole going to college thing and it is work in progress, we haven't recorded anything yet because we are still writting and with him at CSU it is a little hard.
Yeah, they played one year and I was at that; they were ok. I have no idea who is playing this year, do you know?
That isn't stupid at all, I think you categorized them perfectly!

Ballerado Chick's picture

That's really awesome!!! What kind of music did your old band usually do? That's kinda funny that you have a band with a friend at CSU considering the rivalry between the colleges! I wana hear some stuff when you start recording!!
I think only county singers are performing... but I have no idea.
hahaha thanks! I try!

303hatman's picture

Thanks. Well played like electro-rock, it was pretty unusual and truth be told we were pretty awful, one of the reasons we I had no problem quitting, but you have to start and just give it a shot somewhere. Yeah, it is a bit ridiculous; he should probably just realize CU is better and transfer so we could live together and work on music whenever, but he got into the honors program up there but not here while the engineering is so much better down here so it doesn't look like we will ever go to the same school. For sure! With the coolest person in Steamboat bumping our beats, assuming you like them, we will spread like wildfire!
Haha, probably; if I find out I will let you know.
I ccouldn't tell, I'm pretty sure being ballin' just comes naturally for you.

Ballerado Chick's picture

haha that's ok, I bet it was an interesting experience at least.
That's debatable... but I bet the dorms are nicer... the old ones at CSU are sooooo nasty!!
Thanks! I'm excited! I'm pretty good at spreading music around!
Ya, it does. haha just kidding, but anybody from our COLORADO is automatically slightly ballin in my opinion! And you seem like a pretty ballin person, yourself!

303hatman's picture

Yeah it was.
So true, he lives there and it is way nasty.
Sweet! I bet you are.
Haha, for sure; thanks. Did you see Bode Miller win his first gold, that was INSANE?

Ballerado Chick's picture

Ya, I went to soccer camp there last summer and we had to stay in the dorms... it smelled like urine... and sweaty goalkeepers... it wasn't a very pleasant experience... hahaha
No, I didn't! :( I've been really busy lately because soccer just started, so I haven't seen a lot of the events. But I saw the Nordic Combined competition that Bill Demong won gold in and Johnny Spillane won silver!!!
Man, the athletes from Colorado are sweepin up! What are your favorite events?

303hatman's picture

Yuck, haha.
Oh, cool, cool; how is soccer going? That was intense especially since it was our first Nordic Combined medal ever and it was one members fifth olymipcs that he came out of retirement for, such a feel good story. That we are and it is just great!
There are a few, butbeing a pole vaulter I like the summer olympics a lot more, however in the winter I can relate most to the skiing but wish I could try luge because it looks like a total rush and then this year hockey is riveting. What are your favorite events?

Ballerado Chick's picture

Ya it was gnarly! But at least the food was good! haha
Soccer is good! I've been practicing with Varsity so far, but we're only a week into the season so idk how it will all pan out... I think our first game is next week! I'm really excited! How's track going?
Ya for sure! It's definitely an inspiring story!
My favorite events are probably boarder cross, halfpipe, speed skating, ariels, hockey, and nordic combine! And I can't imagine how intense it must be flying down an icy track at those speeds, it would be amazing!! And I agree, I love the Summer Olympics too!

303hatman's picture

Nice!!! I bet you will be starting keeper for varsity. As you should be, let me know how it goes? Track is going really pretty good, I am the 5th vaulter for the team now with a pr of 16'9'', I am making 16' essentially 100% of the time now, and have lowered my 100 time from an 11.2sec to 11 flat. That it is. Wow, you like essentially all of them! Yeah, I think that might be even more of an adrenaline rush then vaulting. You doing anything big for 3OH!3 day?

Ballerado Chick's picture

Thanks! I really hope so! I'll keep you posted!
That's great!! Wow! I can't believe how high you go! That's crazy!
Ya, pretty much... but I don't like curling or ice skating that much haha
Well I was going to have a party, but because of school and soccer, I can't, and all of my friends are busy today. But we're wearing our 3OH!3 shirts that we made for the 12/19/09 concert to school! haha What are you doing for it?

303hatman's picture

Cool, sounds like a plan! It is a little intense and no one ever looks at me and is like "Oh, he pole vaults and vaults over 16'." so that is nice. My dream would be to vault in the 2012 Olympics in London but that is a super long shot becuase I have to remain injury free (knock on wood) and keep improving a ton because to make the team I would have to vault around 19'6''.
Haha, ice skating is terrible and oddly one of my best friends loves curling but I just give him crap for it.
Dang it, but that is understandable. SICK!!! Way to rep. Oh, by the time you read this message I think you'll be able to see what I did. Did you see the name for the new album?
