Artists should to express their feelings in songs that they write, but well be in this together, because the texts are only orginalne and special.. :))
I don't think it matters if they write their own music as long as they choose songs that speak to them. Some people are super talented singers, we shouldn't miss out on that talent just because they can't write to save their life.
I think it is. When I was younger I always thought all musicians did, then I grew up and learned that most artists don't. I felt so naive for thinking that and also felt cheated because you hear the lyrics and you think that's what your favorite artists are thinking/feeling so they are writing&singing about it. It sounds weird but when I found out a lot of artists don't write their own music I was disappointed and thought how can they just go pick songs to sing that other people wrote and it isn't even theirs? But in the end it doesn't matter to the audience as long as they enjoy the song. I just never look at who writes the songs anymore and assume the artist did. lol. It's easier to think that "aww that's such a great song. I wonder what was going on in their lives, that made them think of those lyrics?" but in reality it may not even be them. I just like to think that all artists are creative enough to write their own lyrics, not just sing any lyrics.
Some of the greatest songs have been by brilliant songwriters, it depends on what you can make of it though. Such as Ana Matronic's song written for Duran Duran's latest album is fairly epic! But then, that was written on purpose for them - not a cover. I only love covers if they have been done in the covering band's style.
Kinda both. Like I really don't care as long as the song is good, but it's kinda nice to see artists incorporate their lives into the songs and put their own syle into it.
I think artists have more credibility if they write the songs themselves, but there are a lot of talented songwriters out there who need someone to perform their work as they intended it to be showcased. If I wrote a song, I sure as hell couldn't perform it well enough (and even if I could, it wouldn't get the attention it would get if someone who is already well-known performed it). So I have no problems with it either way.
its not critical, but it gives the songs more personality. if the song is good, it will be good, no matter where it came from, but if its written by the artists, they have a more intimate connection with it, and it makes the song, and the performances better.
i dont really mind, but i love it more and really appreciate it when artists write their own music, i respect them for it and usually the music is a lot better anyway :) its a great talent to write music i know i cant :L :P hehe
I listen to music where the front man didn't write the lyrics, I think there are a lot of great songs out there that should be shared. Just because the writer doesn't have a great voice doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to contribute their music. Same goes for beats and stuff, what if the creator has no interest in spotlight?
Of course. Only you (the artist) will think of crazy weird things or voice your opinion through music to get a point across or talk about an experience in you had in your own words.
dont get me wrong dope songs are pretty great but i love to hear the stuff u guys write becauz its wat i fell in love with. if u dont relate to the music then u dont project the same amount of intensity in the songs u write about all the chicks that suck at life lol
I BELIVE THAT BY WRITING THEIR OWN MUSIC THE ARTIST MAKES THE RELATIONSHIP ARTIST-FAN MORE INTIMATE AND CLOSE SINCE THE ARTIST IS SHARING THEIR OWN THOUGHTS AND EVERYTHING, BUT I WOULD KEPT BOTH WAYS.
It is veeery important, i really enjoy to listen what my idols write them self, what they think, what they fell, that kind of stuff, so yeah, very important.

should write their own texts to express their feelings through it and have their own style

yes it's not very important but it gives them their own style.

I don't really care, but I suppose it's more awesome when they write their own songs/music
Yes, because people died for our country to have the freedom of Free speech.
It's not that important because someone else can do it for you. But if you do write your own music it can be better experience .
ok, looked on my cd, u do :)
I think they should write thier own cause it is actually fun to write songs....till u get frustrated and tear it apart
yep!
yes, nuff said
its really important because if you dont wirte, how can you express your feeling or anything on the music when you play?

absolutely
YES. this is very important to me. because if they don't write their own stuff, its not really "their" music now is it? its someone else's.
Is important artists that show their feelings in the music...
